Capitalizing on truck drivers' over-the-road experiences, the program continuously requires drivers to analyze and discuss defensive driving issues. The program also features a segment on vehicle inspection.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS

• Videos that will train drivers in defensive driving. These videos can replace any of the segments listed above which a company may find more applicable to their needs.
• Crucial Keys to Safe Driving - This video presentation features a variety of commercial vehicles in action. Viewers are taken through a step-by-step explanation and demonstration of the crucial keys in situations common to the industry. A special feature of this video is tips on safe backing.

HANDS-ON DEMONSTRATION

• Pre-Trip Demonstration - Drivers will conduct on actual pre-trip inspection of a vehicle. The instructor will walk around a truck with the drivers, explaining the equipment and how the "CVSA Out of Service” criteria plays a vital importance during their inspection.
• 10-Step Air Brake Test - The instructor will demonstrate a step-by-step air brake test to the drivers, discussing each step. The drivers will also receive a 10 step Air Brake Test card that can be used as a reference during the daily inspection of their truck.
• Instructors- All instructors from Safety Research Consultants, Inc. are currently or recently retired Police Officers who explain the criminal liabilities a driver faces each and every day while driving over the road.
